HLE 25 (25xx)

 

The HLE 25 was a type of electric locomotive of the NMBS, built in 1960. A total of 22 copies were built.

Eight locomotives were converted into a dual-voltage locomotive in 1974, so that the class 25 can also run in the Netherlands (catenary voltage 1500 volts).

These eight locomotives were renumbered to 2551-2558

    Description
    This locomotive was mainly used for the Brussels - Amsterdam connection. What we call Benelux trains (Belgium – Netherlands – Luxembourg)
    The 25 Series is designed for this task.
    But in the Netherlands the service voltage is 1500 VDC and then 8 locomotives are transformed to be compatible.
