Velaro (BR407 Eurostar e320)
The Siemens Velaro is a product family of high-speed trains, developed by the German company Siemens.
The Velaro is a further development of the ICE 3M trainsets that were built in 2000 for the Deutsche Bahn and the Dutch Railways. The Velaro is suitable for service speeds of up to 350 km / h.
In October 2010, Eurostar announced that it selected Siemens as the preferred provider of 10 additional trainsets with a value of € 600 million. These will be used to expand the existing timetable with destinations in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. The 400 meter long train sets, which reach a top speed of 320 km / h, can accommodate 900 passengers. In March 2013 the first test specimen ran on the Siemens test track in Wildenrath.
