At the end of the 1930s, the SNCB ordered a series of 6 locomotives where the speed factor was predominant.
They were built by the Belgian consortium of locomotive builders (mainly Cockerill)
It is the engineer Notes who was the father of the project. These locomotives had large wheels and inner cylinders. The connecting rods are very little visible and are located between the wheels.
All the big names of the equipment are found in this locomotive:
Kylchap exhaust, Metcalfe steam injector, Crampton type fireplace, Westinghouse brakes, Knorr compressor, Gresham sandpit, Cosby whistle, Coale valve, etc.
The loco was careened and thus presented particular aerodynamics also called 'Huet Deviator'. The peculiarity is to have an opening in the front of the shield to create a calm air zone limiting any harmful swirl on the equipment of the locomotive.
There are also large smokescreens to deflect the smoke and increase the visibility of the operator.
Its livery is quite simple, uniformly green with a few buff features that underline the bodywork. In 1955 these lines turn yellow.
The chassis, the wheels, and some connecting rods and mechanisms are black.

Aan het einde van de jaren dertig bestelde de NMBS een reeks van 6 locomotieven waarbij de snelheidsfactor overheerste.
Ze werden gebouwd door het Belgische consortium van locomotiefbouwers (voornamelijk Cockerill)
Het is de ingenieur Notesse die de vader van het project was. Deze locomotieven hadden grote wielen en binnencilinders. De drijfstangen zijn zeer weinig zichtbaar en bevinden zich tussen de wielen.
Alle grote namen van de apparatuur zijn te vinden in deze locomotief:
Kylchap-uitlaat, Metcalfe-stoominjector, Crampton-type open haard, Westinghouse-remmen, Knorr-compressor, Gresham-zandbak, Cosby-fluitje, Coaleklep, enz.
De loc werd gerepareerd en presenteerde dus een bepaalde aerodynamica ook wel 'Huet Deviator' genoemd. De bijzonderheid is om een opening aan de voorkant van het schild te hebben om een rustige luchtzone te creëren die elke schadelijke werveling op de uitrusting van de locomotief beperkt.
Er zijn ook grote rookschermen om de rook af te buigen en de zichtbaarheid van de bestuurder te vergroten.
De livrei is vrij eenvoudig, uniform groen met een paar buff functies die de carrosserie onderstrepen. In 1955 worden deze lijnen geel.
Het chassis, de wielen en enkele drijfstangen en mechanismen zijn zwart.
