Plan E is a series of 196 steel carriages for pulled trains for the long haul, ordered by the Dutch Railways from Werkspoor en Beijnes in 1954, to replace wooden carriages in domestic service.

NS 2200 and Plan E Preloads for the Quick Drive

The Dutch Railways used a pull /push combination on the not yet electrified railway lines.
This meant that two diesel locomotives from the 2200/2300 series were used with passenger coaches in between.
